Prison Fellowship (Anaheim)

“I was in prison and you came to visit me.” -Jesus (Mt 25:36) Every person is made in the image of God. No life is beyond His reach. This prison ministry exists to serve all those affected by crime and incarceration and to see lives and communities restored in and out of prison—one transformed life at a time. We reach out to correctional facilities in California, sharing the Gospel and spreading hope to incarcerated men and women. Home for Refugees: Home Team

Home for Refugees is connecting with Eastside to create new Home Teams. We will have one online meeting a month and then meet several times a month with the family our team is matched with. Location TBD but usually in the Westminister, Anaheim or Irvine area. Home Teams are small groups that partner with a refugee family and go forward in faith to provide supportive relationships as they help resettle the family for one year. The Home Teams and families build a friendship and become the family's friends and supporters here in the United States. Home for Refugees' mission is to offer support to help relieve the tragedy of displacement and loss for families and individuals having to leave a place they once called home, and help them regain independent and self-sufficient living as they create their new home here. Home for Refugees is a faith-based non-profit which mobilizes faith and community groups to be involved in helping resettle our new refugee neighbors - refugees, special immigrant visa holders, asylees, and asylum-seekers - all who have had to flee their homelands in search of a safe place to live. Home for Refugees' goal is that each refugee who arrives will receive a compassionate welcome and feel genuine warmth, generosity, and love from caring volunteers. Serve on a Home Team: • Join 5-8 other Eastsiders in partnering with Home for Refugees to welcome and care for a new refugee family through providing friendship-based support to resettle them in Orange County for their first year in the U.S. • Play one of these roles on a Home Team: (1) financial coaching ; (2) job coaching to help with resume writing, filling out job applications, learning interview skills; (3) health advocacy and help learning the health care system; (4) helping their children enroll in school, and now learning online due to COVID; and (5) helping the family enroll in English classes and practice their conversational English. Fatherhood

This is a Mens/Dads group to help learn skills on becoming more gentle father as our Father in God is to us. As fathers of our households we sometimes get caught up in the bustle of our 9-5 or whatever hours we work to be the provider of our families. We sometimes lose site on nurturing our children to be Godly humans and we may even become triggered to show a short tempered side. Also to learn how to be connected with our families. These days there are a lot of outside sources for our children to find that only want them to model their roles. We focus on becoming the Role Models they need. We cover plans from the Uncommen website, they also have plans on the YouVersion App that we go along with. I also take bits and pieces from a few books that have helped with my own personal and spiritual growth. Triggers and Parenting Scripts by Amber Lia & Wendy Speake. We meet on Saturdays at 11:00am-12:30 outside of the Whole Foods in Brea. There is a common space area with seating and tables. We would love for you to join us if the schedule works for you.

Young Couples with Kids

We are looking to connect and grow relationships with other young couples with kids. However we are open to married couples without kids and/or couples out of our age range. We are 27 and 28, with 3 children ages 4,8, and 9. We love music and worship and would like to incorporate it into our group in the future. Children are welcome to come and play with our children. Depending on ages and amount of kids, we as a group will decide what we’d like to do for child care going forward. For example, if we have only a few older children they can play with our children in another area of the house. If we have younger children, we can pitch in a small amount for a sitter to watch them in a separate room. We are open and flexible with this! This semester we will be doing a Bible study plan on marriage and parenting. We hope you can join us!
